Professional Associations and Networking Resources

International Health Medical Education Consortium (IHMEC) www.ihmec.org
Professional association that host a conference each year (co-sponsored by Stanford). Resources section of website has a lot of links to organizations, information and opportunities.

American Public Health Association www.apha.org/career/
At this site you can post a resume, conduct a job search, and even opt for notification as certain jobs become available. There is a section on journals, books, and other resources for news updates in the health sector. They have a webpage on legislation and current health policy. Finally, they provide some links to health organizations, both by state and on a national scale.

This website is very nicely organized and has vast amounts of information at the click of a button. Weblinks are sorted by the type of medical field, such as pharmacy or podiatry. There are links to information on standardized testing, advice, student resources, career resources, and publications. Links to summer opportunities, recommended subject reading, and foreign schools are also available.

This website provides two distinct options, employment and organizations. The organizations can also be browsed by region. This is mainly a large database of links, but sorts them in an easy-to-use fashion.

Global Health Directory www.globalhealth.org/directory
This site has a nice organization search engine, which provides background information on various health establishments. In the job portion of the website, there are employment and volunteer opportunities listed as well as any current internships from various employers, however you must register to access them. They also have some resources on topics including HIV, Nutrition, and reproductive health. A unique feature is the “What You Can Do” section, which provides opportunities for advocacy and learning about legislation.

International Healthcare Opportunities Clearinghouse (IHOC) library.umassmed.edu/ihoc/
This is a database of different health organizations around the country. It also includes some information on grants. There is also some information on traveling and staying healthy while abroad.

Public Health Resources on the Internet www.lib.berkeley.edu/PUBL/internet.html
This Berkeley-run database contains a wealth of links categorized by subject. Each subject is then divided into listings of organizations, online publications, and guides. The main page also includes general indexes and publications as well as agencies, in California, federal, international, or professional.
