Counseling
To discuss your interests, develop strategies, and discover resources
available to you at the CDC, schedule an appointment with our Internship
Counselor or any other counselor. Appointments can be scheduled in
person at the front desk or by calling (650) 725-1789.
Register
with the CDC
Register with the CDC to establish a Cardinal Careers account, which
will allow you to:
• Access the job/internship database
• Set up job search agents to receive information on jobs/internships of
your specific interest
• Get activated for and participate in our on-campus recruiting program,
Cardinal Recruiting
• Receive CDC Connect, our e-newsletter, the Undecided Newsletter (recommended
for those exploring careers and internship opportunities), and other
targeted career information
Workshops
and Events
There are several workshops and events that can help you with your internship
search. Log in to your CDC account and check our calendar to see what
is being offered each quarter.
Some of the key internship programs to attend include:
Career
Fairs, sponsored by the CDC, which are held throughout the academic
year. These fairs can provide you with general career information,
help you develop contacts and find an internship, summer or full-time
job.
Early
Deadline Internships: a fall workshop that will help you get a head start on
your internship/summer job seach, and inform you about summer internships
with early deadlines.
Summer
Job Series: held in January, can help you prepare for your internship/summer
job search. Workshops and programs include: Internship Search Strategies
Workshops, Summer Job Search Strategies in Public Service, and Short
Term Opportunities Abroad
The
Career Resource Center (CRC), located on the 2nd floor
of the CDC, has a variety of books, online directories, periodicals,
career
guides, and media materials to help with your internship search.

The
Internship Network is
a resource that allows you to connect with other students to talk about
their internship experience. You
can
learn how to approach a specific organization for opportunities and get
an insider’s view on what it was like to work there. At minimum,
you can find out about the variety of places where Stanford students
have interned. You can also register to be a contact.
Short-Term
Work Abroad Resources
If you are interested in an international internship, be sure to check
out our International Careers page and
read the section on Short-Term Work Abroad Programs. Also check out
the programs and resources offered by Bing
Overseas Study Program and
the Overseas Resource
Center.
Reciprocal Career Services is a service that enables
you to use career centers of private universities in or near the cities
in
which you'd like to work. Contact the university career center you'd
like to use directly and ask them if the offer reciprocal services
for Stanford students. If you are eligible, call the CDC Front Desk,
(650) 725-1789 to start the process.
The
Shadow Program provides
you with an opportunity to shadow (spend a day or more on the job)
with a professional in order
to gain
a better awareness of the working world.
